They are currently seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to join their growing team. The role requires a considerable degree of leadership, commitment and experience to grow and lead the HSE function within the business to meet their high standards of care for staff, colleagues, stakeholders and the environment, whilst supporting the drive for operational excellence. This is a great opportunity for an experienced, ambitious professional to do things the right way with the full support of the management team.

  • Act as a role model in approach to all safety-related matters, thereby supporting the business in developing a strong safety culture within the company & project teams.
  • Initiate and participate in relevant Safety campaigns/initiatives.
  • Assist with incident/accident investigation and Safety inspections/audits. Assist in the collection, monitoring and distribution of relevant Safety information and accident statistics.
  • Build and manage the HSE function giving direction to the safety team as well as other colleagues.

  • Oversee Safety, Health & Environmental matters on multiple projects across Ireland, Norway, the UK and other geographical regions as required.
  • Work closely with the project teams to develop a positive working relationship that ensures everyone works together as a team to ensure all sites operate safely at all times.
  • Maintain all HSE documentation.
  • Liaise with all relevant third parties such as local authorities, health & safety authority, etc.
  • Carry out risk assessments and actioning control measures where required.
  • Complete method statements for various work activities on site.
  • Completing and updating construction stage health and safety plans and task specific risk assessments.
  • Investigate and report on all EHS incidents ensuring thorough investigations and corrective measures are implemented.

  • Carry out or direct site inspections as required
  • Promote best practice and direct site personnel on areas of concern.
  • Completion of EHS plans, registers and complete weekly/monthly/annual reports.
  • Reviewing and approving sub-contractor EHS documents and ensuring compliance on-site.
  • Conducting site EHS inspections and producing reports.
  • Developing and delivering toolbox talks to site operatives.

Candidate requirements

  • An appropriate education with 5-10 years in relevant roles.
  • Experience in similar roles in renewables or other large infrastructure projects would be ideal but other applicable experiences may be just as valuable.
  • A sound working knowledge of all relevant safety legislation, procedures and associated requirements (and their impact on day to day operational activities), gained from a safety management role within a utility / contracting environment.
  • Knowledge of electrical networks and associated plant and equipment, gained from previous relevant experience.
  • Experience in compiling project HSE plans and documentation.
  • Strong IT Skills with the ability to utilise Microsoft office package to deliver relevant statistical analysis and reports.
  • Evidence of good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence others at both an operational and senior management level.
  • A full clean driving licence.
